Lillian's LillyPad Afghan

I made this for my Grandbaby, Lilly! We are so excited about the new edition to The Oropeza Tribe. Our youngest Beilyn, chose all the colors and arranged the order of the colors. She was so happy to be apart of making this Afghan.
I used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, a great sturdy yarn for kids blankets and afghans, and when washed and dried in the drier, it becomes soft and fluffy.
I love the raised flowers, Lilly will have fun, feeling them!

Here she is!

Cables

I decided to step up my crocheting to the next level by teaching myself how to crochet cables. Another one of my ambitious ideas and of course I find a pattern that is way too advanced to learn with. lol And after about 8 tries,(I literally had to start over that many times), I finally got the hang of it. My only problem is I am making a bag that requires two panels that are then sewn together with a gusset. I am almost finished with the first panel and started working on the second, but I am now tired and bored with the whole thing! lol After all of this work, I just want to undo the panels and make something else, my goodness! The bag will be so cute, but I just don't think I can keep going, I even tried putting it a side for a time, and worked on some other designs, but the yarn is calling me. Hee hee :)

Accent Pillows! (Things to do with scrap yarn # 12)

Love, Love, Love these pillows!!! It took me one hour each to make the back and front of the pillow, and then I just crochet the two pieces together, inserted a pillow and closed it up with a slip stitch along the opening. The best part is I used scrap yarn only, and it's easy to customize! These are great for any room in the house.

Beilyn's Birthday Blanket!

I made this blanket for my little Pop Pop's birthday, it was quick and easy! I totally improvised this one, even the stripe pattern was made as I went along. This took me about 10 hrs, worked over 3 days, I think I could have made it a lot faster, but I was working on The Larksfoot Blanket as well. I used Red Heart's With Love yarn; it is my new favorite yarn for blankets. The raised texture on the blanket was made by doing a double crochet in one stitch and a single crochet in the next...I love it, and so does Beilyn!

Larksfoot Blanket by ImmanuelDesigns

This was a long process, it took longer to make than I expected, but I got it done just in time for Irelynd's birthday! I found a video on line to learn the stitch and then I designed this blanket for her. I love the way it looks, but I'm not a fan of the process. It uses a lot of yarn and became tedious. Maybe next time (now that I have the hang of it) it will go a lot faster.

Stripes Slouch Beanie!

This was a fun and easy beanie to make, it is a modified version of the All Grown Up Slouch Hat, a pattern I found on Ravelry. I like how the raised stripes gives the beanie texture and dimension.
The brim was actually made attached and not a separate piece sewn on; a new and much better technique I learned from this pattern. Love it

iPad Cozy by ImmanuelDesigns

Check out this iPad Cozy I whipped up! I couldn't stop smiling after I was finished. It was one of those build as you go projects and it only took a few hours! I just chained the length of the iPad and then sc in each chain. From there I hdc in back loops until I got the length I wanted. I then sc around the whole piece, sewed the sides together, added buttons and sc hooks, bsc around the top and viola! After I was done I decided to make a little pocket in the front for ear phones...So much fun, love it!

Booties for the whole Family!

I made these cute, warm and cozy booties for all of us for Christmas. This pattern was very easy to follow and I can make a pair in less than an hour. The pattern can be purchased on etsy by Holland Designs. This is my first pattern purchase and it was well worth it!

The Sandy Fringe Scarf

What a blessing it was to design this scarf. I wanted to make something thick, warm and cheerful, to send out to those effected by the Sandy Hurricane.

Being apart of this effort has truly blessed me and has put a new mission in my heart. I am thankful that the Lord has answered my prayer to be able to use this gift He has given me to touch others...

The Jewel Slouch Hat! $23

I love this hat! This is a revised version of ones I've made before & I finally picked a name for it. I used Caron Simply Soft Yarn which has a shinier look to it, compared to other yarns.

I love that it's made in rounds and it still gets the puckered look at the top. Most hats like this you have to make in a tube shape and then sew the top closed, and for me its a pain and it takes longer...

The original pattern is by Monika Ghose, which can be found on Ravelry under Simple Slouch Beanie.

Make it Better/Sandy Craftalong!

Scarf headquarters, can't crochet without fishies and water...lol
We are so blessed to be able to be apart of such and awesome outreach of love and support to those who are effected by the Sandy hurricane.  We pray that these scarves will spread a little warmth and comfort to those in need.
This has been an awesome experience, and I am thankful that our children were able to be apart of it; not only in crafting, but in prayer. God is so good and He alone is worthy of all praise!

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
Psalm 9:1

My Goodness!

I can't believe it's been so long since I have been able to post on my blog.  Since school started, we have been sooooo busy with learning and field trips.  I hope to post the pics from our adventures soon!  It seems like the days go by so fast and the slow days; I just want to kick back and relax away from all electronics.
Bare with me folks I'll be up an posting soon.  I started crocheting Christmas gifts for the family, and I have some cute new fun designs to share. God is so good and I praise Him for His many blessings in my life.

Thanks for all the wonderful emails...

God Bless, Cathina

We Conquered the Bridge 4 Labor Day!

Let the races to begin!
This Labor Day we stepped up to the challenge and went out to Conquer the Vincent Thomas Bridge. It was a 5.3 mile race that started on Harbor Boulevard in San Pedro, California and then ran over the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
Once we got our stride, we conquered the uphill battle...
We did it baby, I love you!
Support and Cheers from our babies!
We dedicated this one to our eldest son Lundyn; praying he can conquer the uphill battles he faces as he serves in the United States Marine Corps.  We pray that he would lean on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all the way!
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.  Acts 20:24
